Hey guys, I know we like to have fun (I mean It's a game after all) but there is also a time when you need to lock on and get ready to go. There is way too much random chatter, grenade throwing, teamkilling, and general fuckery that really drags out the time it takes to get ready for operations.
I know you're probably saying to yourself, "Damn, why is this cadet saying this shit when he does that stupid Clone Wars announcer voice all the time?" Well, yea I do that, but I also know when to flip my switch into game time. Just please think about this so we don't have to spend 1.5 hours getting ready for even the simplest ops.
CR-C Wraith
Voiceover extraordinaire.
Cheers to this, I usually button up really quick no matter how funny or how tempted i am to say somthing i know its for the better to get the operation under way so we can start scrapping some Clankers!
1) Well all the ops that have been going on for the last 2 weeks have been fun ops, hence why everyone is lose and shit
2)majority of the ppl are CR rank so they havent had training, hence dont know wat to do or how to act
3) the actual operations are gona be plan/made out wayyyyyyyyy before in advance. idk if this means we will go faster or have a very indepth briefing due to the details of the mission.
4)Also the fun ops have kinda been a testing ground for the server and well the players. The zeus/mission makers have been trying to make larger missions while optimizing server performence, and due to the massive influx of players (*cough* sorensic *cough*) so it allows the newbies something to do till initial training
5) tech issues,and other stuff
6) Also the people who make the fun ops,are new to making them. Like this morning technically at 2 am est we had a training for zeus operators. So the people who are making the fun ops are new. Also it takes time to make a good op. If u want the op to be made quicky then your probably gona get just spammed with enemy units because thats all the zeus makers can do in a short time. So good ops take a while to be made. My suggestion to this is that we have some templates for each map or premade fun ops made by someone in their free time to speed things up because the biggest thing to the long wait times is the time it takes for the zeus maker to make the mission
so thats why imo u cant really expect fun ops to be serious ops, then they just become serious ops
@ Namenai,I honestly don't care about the mission set-up. My main beef was the people who act like they don't have any common sense. Training be damned, you should know when it's time to act right and when it's time to make fart noises on the mic and screech like an autistic kid (BTW, that's almost never going to be ok). I just get so burnt so quickly trying to play fun ops. People just drive me crazy.
The way I see it is the NCOs and Officers are understaffed for the amount of guys they have to handle. Doesn't seem like many of the CRs look at CTs the same they do as CPs or CS's. Which they shouldn't because Troopers aren't NCOs but at the same time they're CTs for a reason.
Now that I think of it its just a lack of respect on the part of a good portion of the new guys (which we are apart of if only in relation to join date).
Even if it's a fun op people should not be throwing grenades, deleting map markers, screaming into the mic, not listening to NCOs, etc.
It's still meant to be serious, its only called a Fun OP because it's not an actual operation, that doesn't mean we stop being a milsim.
Fun OP's can be serious, but like many others have said we have a influx of CR's that are inexperienced and some brand new to Arma. I like a serious Milsim as much as the next guy and that is why there are OPs on certain times for certain platoons. I hope this helps clears up some confusion.
Even fun ops are supposed to be treated as serious. "Fun" doesn't necessarily mean everybody is now clear to not give a shit. Fun, to me, says these are ops where the admins can experiment and try cool scenarios...the past 5-6 fun ops I've participated in as a new CR have been mostly fun, but the prep phase is absolute nonsense. I've seen groups bigger than this get under control in seconds, but our prep phase is like herding cats.
We are much better than that.
I completely agree with Gregor on this.
The prep phase is a huge issue with everyone running around like chickens without heads.
